Marshall
Helen Anne, eldest daughter
of Richard and Ruby (Isabella, neé McIvor) Sowdon
married Adrian James Marshall in Cambridge,
1957 (divorced 198?). They had three children Paul (b 1958), Suzanne (b 1959),
and Tim (b 1962).
Adrian trained as a chef in Cambridge
where we lived, for the most part at 44 Davy Road,
Cambridge, until 1963. We moved during the winter of 1963 to
Keepers Close, Luton where Adrian had a job as chef working
for Brock’s Fireworks in Hemel Hempstead. In the early 1970s the Marshall family moved from
Keepers Close to Plumpton Close, Stopsley, Luton. Both Helen and Adrian (Jim) worked hard to improve living
conditions for us all and moving from a council house to our own house was
certainly an improvement.
Life was reasonably happy in Luton. All three of us, myself,
Suzanne and Tim, were pupils at Ashcroft
High School, a reasonable walk from
home. We all had a happy time
there.
